Estimate View Ribbon Overview

A list of buttons on the Estimate View ribbon and their functions

The main ribbon in Estimator is a dynamic space that changes for each of the main views to offer quick access to the core functions you need for each view.

This article provides a list of the buttons that appear in the ribbon when on the Estimate View, along with a brief description for each function, and some applicable links to articles with more detail.

Create One-off Line Item - Create a blank line item that's not derived from your Cost Database. If you use this button, we recommend you use it sparingly, as WBS properties will need to be assigned for the line item to categorize appropriately.

Remove Cost  - Deletes the selected line item(s) from the estimate.

Copy Line Item - Creates a duplicate of the selected line item. A Copy Line Item window will pop-up after pressing, allowing you to alter the WBS properties of the line item before it is added. After it is added, the Item Number and Description may be changed. This is the preferred method of adding a line item to be re-purposed versus Create One-off Line Item.

Set Escalation - Opens the Set Line Item Escalation window, where you can apply escalated costs in percentages or set dollar amounts. See article: Using the 'Set Escalation' Feature.

Fees - Opens the Fee Editor, where you can add, edit, and manage the fees applied to both your base estimate and alternates.

WBS  Properties - Lets you add and remove WBS properties and values and Set as Sticky Value. The update and add from database will be a future enhancement.

Highlight Rules - Set up rules to highlight line item headers according to user-defined criteria. See article: Creating Highlight Rules.

Audit Trail - View a table of changes made to the estimate. Tracks when and what was changed, and identifies the user who made the change. See article: Audit Trail: Track Changes Made to an Estimate.

From Estimate View - Generates an Excel report with the same layout as the current Estimate View, either formatted or unformatted, and saved to a location of the users' choosing. See article: Configure and Run an Estimate View Excel Report.

Selected Layout - A drop-down to select pre-configured Estimate View layouts. See article:  Estimate View Layouts and the Column Chooser.

    • '+' button - Creates a new layout for your current Estimate View configuration.
    • Pencil button - Edits the current selected layout (and allows for renaming).
    • '-' Button - Deletes the currently selected layout.
