Workpack: Steel Column Schedule Detection

The ‘Steel Column Schedule Detection’ Feature enables automatic detection of lines representing steel beams and columns in a form of steel column schedules directly within Takeoff Mode.

Here are the steps to using Steel Column Schedule Detection in Workpack:

1. Process the Document
  • To detect steel columns in any Takeoff Zone of the document, the document needs to be processed at least once.
  • So the first step is to add at least one Takeoff Zone and run processing.
2. Run Steel Column Detection
  • Now columns can be detected in any Takeoff Zone.

  • Navigate to the desired Takeoff Zone and press ‘Detect Steel Columns’ in either the Left Panel menu or the Properties Panel.

3. Review Detected Lines
  • Once the detection is complete, all detected segments of columns will be placed in Linear Measurements group named after the segments’ detected labels.
  • You can select any group to highlight segments of the same type.

4. Organize Detected Segments
  • From here, you can use Grouping Mode to move detected segments between existing or new groups to get precise results.

Detection During Processing

You can also detect Steel Column Schedules as part of your standard processing workflow. Here’s how:

  1. Add a Takeoff Zone and select the ‘Column Schedule’ type. Column Schedule detection will be enabled by default.
  2. Run processing as usual.

Once complete, the detected column schedule lines will appear in linear measurements.

Steel Column Schedule Detection vs Line Detection

The main difference between the two features is that in Steel Column Schedule Detection only vertical lines of a specific width get detected, as opposed to all kinds of lines in Line Detection.
