Replacing an Attribute Slicer in the Power BI Cost History Dashboard

This article will walk you through the simple process of replacing an Attribute Slicer in the Power BI Cost History Dashboard.

Prerequisites

The Power BI dashboard shown in this article was released in July 2025. On-prem clients can download the latest Cost History Dashboard here, while Hosted clients should request the latest Cost History Dashboard by submitting a ticket to Support.

To complete the steps in this guide, you will need:

  1. Power BI Desktop version installed on your PC.
  2. Hosted clients will need to be whitelisted for direct access to their database (contact support if you need to be whitelisted).

Step-by-Step Guide

In the below example, we are going to change the 'Building Structure' slicer for 'Lead Estimator'. Of course, you are free to replace your slicers with any property you see fit.
  1. Open the Cost History dashboard file in Power BI Desktop.
  2. Navigate to the Project Selection tab at the bottom.

  3. In the Data section, expand the 'EstimatePropertyDataDetails for Slicers' table to show a full list of the project properties that are available.
  4. Click on the Building Structure Slicer in the left section to make sure it is selected.
  5. After selecting the Building Structure Slicer, you will see Building Structure appear in the Field list.
  6. Now, in the Data section, uncheck the Building Structure checkbox, and check Lead Estimator
  7. You will see this change reflected in the Field List:
  8. You will also now see that the selected slicer has been replaced.

The process is now complete, and your newly configure slicer is ready for filtering projects.
