2D Takeoff Update Page Options

There are many ways to update drawing sets in DESTINI Estimator 2D Takeoff. Here are several options.

Option 1a | Version Estimate | Update Drawing Set with New Pages Added

Leapfrog pages when required

1. Create a new version of the estimate in Estimator.

2. Add updated drawing set via Update Page.

3. Recall previous drawing set and Update Page 1-by-1.

Note: Pay attention that the previous page numbers and the updated drawing page numbers will be out of sequence, so be thoughtful when invoking Update Page and adding pages via slip sheet method.

Option 1b | DO NOT VERSION ESTIMATE | Update Drawing Set with New Pages Added

Redraw all takeoff, use line items in Estimate View and “Takeoff Palette”

1. Create a new estimate from an appropriate Estimator Template.

2. Copy/paste all line items in estimate view from old design phase estimate to new design phase estimate.

a. The new design phase estimate will have all old design phase estimate quantities but will not have old drawings or take-off.

b. Keep the quantities in line items that you want to remain intact.

3. Zero out the quantities in line items that you want to re-draw.

4. Add updated drawing set via Update Page.

5. Recall previous drawing set and Update Page 1-by-1.

6. Use the estimate view to right click sketch new take-off for revised scope.

This ensures the previous drawing has been purged from the Takeoff | Load | PDF and Images list, however there is pre-work to append pages to the end and estimate evolution via versioning is NOT maintained.

Option 2a | Update Drawing Set with New Pages Added in PDF Editor

MOVE all slip sheet pages to the end

1. In a PDF editor (Bluebeam or Adobe for example) move all slip sheet pages to the end in chronological order.

2. Create a new version of the estimate in Estimator.

3. Add updated drawing set via Update Page in Takeoff View.

4. Recall previous drawing set and Update Page 1-by-1 in order.

5. Draw takeoff on appended sheets at the end of the set.

This ensures 1-to-1 page mapping when invoking Update Page, however there is pre-work to append pages to the end of the drawing set.

Option 2b | DO NOT VERSION ESTIMATE | Updated Drawing Set

1. In a PDF editor (Bluebeam or Adobe for example) MOVE all slip sheet pages to the end in chronological order.

2. Create a new estimate from an appropriate Estimator Template.

3. Copy/paste all line items in estimate view from old design phase estimate to new design phase estimate.

a. The new design phase estimate will have all old design phase estimate quantities but will not have old drawings or take-off.

b. Keep the quantities in line items that you want to remain intact.

4. Zero out the quantities in line items that you want to re-draw.

5. Use the Estimate View to right click sketch new take-off for revised scope.

This ensures the previous drawing has been purged from the Takeoff | Load | PDF and Images list, however there is pre-work to append pages to the end and estimate evolution via versioning is not maintained.

Option 2c | Version Estimate | Update Drawing Set with New Pages Added

MOVE all slip sheet pages to the end

1. In a PDF editor (Bluebeam or Adobe for example) MOVE all slip sheet pages to the end in chronological order.

2. Create a new version of the estimate in Estimator.

3. Rename the New Drawing Set the same name as the original (1st set introduced) i.e. “Current      Drawing Set.pdf”.

4. Select Takeoff | Load | Load PDF or Image from the Takeoff Ribbon.

5. Navigate to the folder location of the New Drawing Set and Open.

This ensures 1-to-1 page mapping without using Update Page, however there is pre-work to append pages to the end.

Option 3 | Version Estimate | Add New Pages as a New Drawing Set

Remove all slip sheet pages completely and create a new drawing set – like Option #2, but if the previous drawing set has not changed then maintain two sets Previous Non-changed new set Add ONLY

1. In a PDF editor (Bluebeam or Adobe for example) cut/paste all slip sheet pages to a new drawing set in chronological order.

2. Create a new version of the estimate in Estimator.

3. Add New drawing set via Takeoff | Load | Load PDF or Image.

4. Draw takeoff on new drawing set.

This avoids using the 1-by-1 Update Page command, however there is pre-work to extract all slip sheet pages to a hybrid drawing set.

Follow-up note: This could get out of hand quite quickly attempting to keep all changes straight. A more direct approach is to maintain single sheet drawing files after the initial takeoff begins maintaining a 1-to-1 sheet update through the life of the project. Folder and File Naming Convention are imperatives. Splintering out all sheets from a draw set is typically automated in PDF editors.
