How to Use the Cost Per Unit Summary
DESTINI Estimator Cloud Reports include a Cost/Unit Summary in the Executive Summary and in line item grouped rows. This summary helps users compare costs against a selected project property value or quantity, such as Total Building Area, or against an overline quantity defined in the Estimate View.
This article includes detailed information about how the Cost/Unit Summary works and how to use it.
Executive Summary Columns
The Executive Summary includes three Cost/Unit-related columns:
- Quantity — Prints either the overline quantity or the selected Cost/Unit Property value.
- Unit — Calculates Total Cost divided by the printed Quantity.
- Total — Prints the summed Total Cost for the current row.
How the Cost/Unit Summary Is Calculated
The report calculates Cost/Unit by dividing the Total Cost by the quantity printed in the report. The quantity value comes from one of two places:
- Overline Quantity — Line item grouped row Quantity and Unit of Measure specified inside the Estimate View.
- Cost/Unit Property parameter — Numerical value for the Project Property specified inside the Cost/Unit Property parameter.
The report prioritizes overline quantities when available; otherwise, it uses the selected project property value, which is also used for all Alternates and Executive Summary footers.
For more information about Overline Quantities, see Overline Workflows: Hard Keyed, Sum by Unit, Project Property, and Contributes to Quantity
Runtime Parameters
Cloud reports use the following parameters to adjust the Cost/Unit Summary:
-
Included Cost/Unit Summaries
-
Cost/Unit Property
-
Cost/Unit Unit
Included Cost/Unit Summaries
The Included Cost/Unit Summaries parameter controls which Cost/Unit Summary sections appear in the report. When toggled off, the associated Quantity and Unit columns are removed from the report.
By default, the following Cost/Unit summaries are included:
- Estimate Summary Totals
- Fees
- Level 1 Group
Cost/Unit Property
The Cost/Unit Property parameter controls which Project Property is used when an overline quantity is not available.
Cost/Unit Unit
The Cost/Unit Unit parameter allows you to specify the Unit of Measure you want to see for your Cost/Unit Property. By default, these parameters default to Total Building Area with SF as the unit of measure.
